Launch New Instance on AWS EC2 and Install Docker on top of AWS EC2

This document is explaining how to launch new instance on AWS EC2 and install docker after initial installation

Recently me and my teammates want to try some AWS service, especially EC2. So here are the steps:

1.Go to EC2 service menu on AWS

2.Go to EC2 Dashboard > Find Launch Instance Button > Click Launch Instance

3.Alternatively, you can go to menu Instances > Launch Instance

4.Choose image you want to use. In this case, we are using ubuntu. Click Select button on desired image

5.Choose Instance Type. In this case we are using t2.micro. Click Next: Configure instance details after choosing instance type

6.Configure Instance Details. After finished, click Next: Add storage

7.Choose storage type and Size. Then click Next: Add tags

8. Optionally, you can set tags for instance, in this case we put tag name to our instance. If finished, click Next: Configure security group

9.Configure security group. Security group will allow what port and ip address that will be opened to access our instance. If finished, click Review and Launch

10.Review Instance Launch. If everything has been verified, click Launch

11.After click launch, new window will be prompted. You will be asked to choose key pair. Click create new pair, otherwise you can use any existing key pair if you have been generated before. Click Download Key Pair

12. Save as key pair. This key pair will be used if you want to connect to your instance using standalone remote connection application, example: PuTTY.

13.If you have saved key pair, click Launch Instance

14. Then launch status page will be opened.

15.After that, you can check your instances status on Instances menu. Make sure instance has been running

16.You can connect to your instance to make a console connection by clicking Connect Button or Actions > Connect. There are several methods to connect to your instance. In this example we will using EC2 Instance Connect (browser-based) and will be using our web browser to connect

17.SSH connection will be opened on web browser

18.Install docker on your EC2 instance. In this case we are using ubuntu and you can refer to this link for installation :

19. After installation, you can make sure docker version

20. Also verify docker service has been running
