It's the final countdown...

Week 10! The coursework is all completed and we’re heading into the home stretch..

I’m enjoying a small moment of calm this evening before we move into the final project.

It at once feels like a million years since we began the bootcamp and like it has all flown by in a blur. There’s been rollercoaster of ups and downs (with endless patience and support from our nearest and dearest) but we’ve almost made it.

Since the last note we’ve gotten through:

  • An interview scheduling project for React week (which I’m not afraid to admit was a toughie)
  • a multitude of testing with Storybook, Jest, Cypress, RSpec, Capybara, Poltergeist and Phantom
  • an additional e-commerce project in Ruby and Rails
  • and a research and reflect written piece (link here if you fancy a read)

I’ve quite enjoyed Ruby, once I got my head around it, and we’re thinking of using it for our final project along with some React. It’s definitely an area I will be looking to practice and improve on post bootcamp.

So…finals!

I’ve teamed up again with the iconic Hanna Oh Andrews and our new team mate Sergii Gorbatyi.

Our idea for the project is to address a recent change to the recreation habits of those of us in the Lower Mainland namely the introduction of the day passes for use of several BC Parks. Having seen and heard some feedback on the difficulty of accessing the passes which become available at 6am for access that same day and the inability to plan in advance if you are able to get a ticket, we are looking at a alternative way to implement and assign the day passes.

If you’re interested in learning more about our final project or watching the presentations on September 10, please do leave a comment, and I'll also update with the streaming link as soon as it becomes available.
