It's not about a BBQ

It's not about a BBQ

As we enter into the Memorial Day weekend I ask that you take a few moments to think about what it is we are Memorializing, that is those that have passed on before us...

I'm a Veteran of the United States Air Force, I served honorably for 7 years 1 month and 15 days (ask any vet and they can tell you the exact number of days served). A majority of my service was excellent some not so good but after being separated from active duty for almost 21 years I can honestly say I miss it every day. The USAF made me who I am today, it made me a disciplined individual, it provided me with security and comfort, comfort in knowing I was going to be taken care, but the main thing the USAF gave me was a sense of pride, honor, dedication to duty and loyalty.... I gave everything I had to be an excellent Airman, in turn the USAF gave me the opportunity to see the world, learn a trade and I learned what it meant to fight for something you believe in... I love America and would do anything to protect her and her interest, when I see the abuse of OUR flag it disturbs me because I know what it means to fight for "Old Glory" and I know there have been many brave men and women lost fighting for us....... Lost yet they should never be forgotten!

The above article was written about my Great Uncle who was at the time fighting in Vietnam, I've read it over 100 times, each time I read it it makes me feel proud to have served... Duty, Honor and Country is what all Vets and current members of the Service stand for, so when you get the day off from work and fire up the grill stop for a brief moment and give thanks for living in the greatest Country in the world, AMERICA..... If not for the United States Military we would not be enjoying the freedoms we have today....

HOOAH

Thank you, Lance, for your service then and now. God bless everyone who has and is willing to put on a uniform, military or civil, and stand in the gap.
