Interoperability for Connected Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)
I created a special on Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering to discuss the interoperability of industry IoT. Welcome everyone interested in to submit papers.
Call for Papers
More than ten years ago, internet of things (IoT) was proposed in relation to RFID, which enables today’s convenient life in many areas. During the period until now, a variety of communication technologies have appeared and flourished, for example, WiFi, Zigbee, Bluetooth, LoRa, and z-wave, creating more and more networks of devices by providing connectivity among devices. However, we still face many challenging issues at this moment despite the advance of communication technology. If we deeply look into the perspective of connectivity, one of the critical issues is how to make the machines/systems interoperable while they are integrated together. The most important thing is standardization. So many proprietary protocols exist in many sectors. For example, there are more than twenty industrial protocols existing in PLC/SCADA applications from Siemens, Schneider, and so on. For customers, it is very complicated issue to understand/choose protocols. Thus, in this special issue, we open the collection of research paper as well as review papers.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- IIoT that can be used in industry, agriculture, and outdoor harsh environment
- The new perspective of IIoT interoperability, including concept, infrastructure, and strategy
- Analysis, research, and discussion on IoT middleware, for example, IoTivity, AllSeen, and mbed device server
- The messing protocols within IIoT to enhance the interoperability of different systems/devices, for example, MQTT, CoAP, AMQP, and REST
- New algorithms used to solve the interoperability issues in IIoT
- Interoperability between clouds that is also contained here, with more and more cloud providers emerging
Authors can submit their manuscripts via the Manuscript Tracking System athttp://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/jece/communications/ciit/.
