Internship Diary- Final Chapter
Gestures
When joining a new workplace, there is a lot of uncertainty related to work and the team. I believe that someone's performance doesn't solely depend on the skills they bring to the table but also on how well they collaborate with their team. It's not just about the individual, but also about the support and appreciation they receive at work. Small gestures can go a long way, not only in building rapport but also in promoting emotional and mental well-being, especially now that everyone is working remotely. Employee engagement and work culture are highly driven by small gestures like "good work," "nice thought," "I like your work," and "well done” etc.
When I entered Tiger Analytics for my internship, I was unsure of how I would perform and whether I would be able to meet the company's standards and align with its goals. However, as soon as I joined, I was welcomed by a supportive team. In no time, I began learning about how things work, the expected work style, and the desired perspective. I made an effort to align with the goals, worked hard to complete tasks, and went the extra mile to demonstrate that my team's investment in me would yield positive results. Throughout my two-month journey, I was motivated and energetic, largely because I received appreciation, support, guidance, and encouragement.

In addition to my team, I also learned that the work culture at Tiger Analytics emphasizes a "team first" approach, promoting learning from others and helping one another. I had the opportunity to learn from my colleagues, witness their encouragement at work, and feel a sense of belonging in the company, even as an intern. I knew I could always speak up, ask questions, and seek understanding at any given point. These two months made me feel like a valued part of the company, and I am taking away invaluable experiences that cannot be quantified by the duration of my internship alone.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my mentors Abhideep Jain and Rikku Zach Kurian for their continuous support and guidance, always ready to lend a helping hand when I encountered something unfamiliar. Their thought-provoking questions have also allowed me to explore my skills and capabilities independently. I would also like to thank Anand Bharadwaj and Gautam Kholker for their unwavering appreciation of even the smallest efforts I put into my work, and for encouraging everyone to break boundaries and explore calling his team “warriors”. Furthermore, I want to seize this opportunity to express my gratitude to Jisha S for facilitating strong connections among all the interns and successfully managing the internship process. Lastly, my sincere thanks go out to all the other individuals who have helped me, promptly addressed my queries, and provided timely responses and small gestures throughout.
