Intel Processor Naming Pattern || Which processor suits you best
We all use laptops that usage intel core processors. And most of us only know the brand modifier of the processor like i5, i7 & i8, etc. Let's understand the naming pattern so that we can buy best configuration laptop next time we are going to buy a laptop.
Core i7-8650U
We will start from the last of the above processor name.
- You have an alphabet(Product Line Suffix) to distinguish one type of processor from the other within the same category. In our example, U means mobile power efficient. Below is the list of the alphabets.
- The next three numbers denote the Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) number. You can also call it the model number if you like. In our example, it is 650
- Finally, The first number displays the generation of the CPU. In our example, it is the 8th generation i7. This could be a two-digit number in the case of the 10th generation processor.
