Incubated Learning© Design: The Four Indispensable Elements

In the following blog series, I am introducing four key aspects of Incubated Learning, a methodology that we have developed and perfected, over a series of years and through the delivery of over 500 successful Incubated Learning projects in different business sectors internationally.

The blogs will provide some thoughts on four indispensable components that make Incubated Learning © the highly successful methodology that it is.

Blog 1: Learning that is Group Based: the group creates the learning context

I begin with the idea that Incubated Learning is group based learning as opposed to facilitator / lecturer led learning.

It is about a group going through an incubated process together in an incubated space. This blog will highlight the importance of the group creating the context for their own learning.

Blog 2: Learning that is Project Based: Introducing real life complexity

The next indispensable idea is that Incubated Learning is project based learning. The delivery of a successful project and the lessons that result from doing implementation for real within the complexity of people populated systems, is a crucial aspect of Incubated Learning.

Blog 3: Project delivery enhanced through heightened emotional intelligence

In third place is developing of emotional intelligence and how Incubated Learning results in

-      Delegates improving their ability to show up and be counted in a group

-      delegates becoming supremely aware of the intent and effect of their individual behaviour

-       delegates becoming skilled at negotiating all aspects of implementing disruptive ideas into a set people populated system.

This happens through the interwoven development of emotional intelligence throughout the program.

Auliq Ice suggests

“It is very humbling to see my own character defects in someone who annoys me. At the end of the day, I realize they have actually prompted positive change in me.”

This is exactly what happens in the Incubated Learning process as the group negotiate themselves through the tricky road of project delivery.

Blog 4: G=Accountability: the paradox of individual and group accountability

Lastly, in the blog G= accountability (in a new way). I talk about how, in Incubated Learning and with the heightened emotional intelligence, delegates learn to assume a new kind of accountability to themselves, to the group and back in the workplace.

Welcome to the series. Watch out for my next post – coming soon.
