Who is a webmaster?

A webmaster is someone who takes care of maintenance tasks of a website or we can say he is the administrator of a website. Following are the responsibility of a webmaster:

•  Adding new content to the site.
• Updating or deleting the old content of the site.
• Organization content of the site in the proper hierarchy.
• Take care of the SEO aspect of the site.
• Site traffic monitoring.
• Provide a response to customer inquiries.
• Monitor size of the web pages that include the optimization of images, videos, CSS, JS. So that allowed bandwidth and disk space will not exceed.
• Plan future growth, requirements and limitations of the website.
• Social media promotion of the site.
• Minor tweaking in programming languages like CSS, JS or server side.

Important and free tools for webmaster:

1. Duplicate Content Checker: Use a tool like Plagiarism Checker or Siteliner to check duplicate content of the site, because Google will penalize your site for duplicate content and it will affect the SEO ranking of the site.
2. SimilarWeb: if you are planning to start an online business and also want to do an analysis of your competitor’s companies website like SEO keywords, social media channel of focus, traffic… etc. then SimilarWeb is a very useful tool, that will provide such information free of cost.
3. Page Optimization: You can use free tools like gtmetrix, pingdom or WebPageTest to analyze your web page's performance. It will also provide you various suggestions to optimize different section of the web page.
4. Google Trends: Google Trends is a tool by which you can find the keywords, what is the world searching for? For a new company who wants to find the keywords that are trending in a specific region or globally, you can use this tool. 
5. Canva: Canva is a very simple tool for graphic design. You can use this tool to create graphics for your website or different social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube, etc. It provides different templates to draw graphics as per your need. I also use this tool to draw graphics.
