The Importance of Understanding API Endpoints as a Frontend Developer

Two weeks ago, we faced a challenge on a collaboration project that required an API to perform CRUD operations. As a frontend developer, I usually focus on the client side, but given the urgency, I had to step in and create the API myself.

I've been learning Node.js for a while, not intending to dive deep into backend development just yet. However, the project needed a backend solution quickly, so I took on the task and built the API we needed.

The experience was eye-opening. We successfully used the API to perform the necessary operations, and I gained a deeper understanding of how backend development impacts frontend work.

Recently, while tasked to work with a specific endpoint, I realized that to efficiently use an API as a frontend developer, it's crucial to understand the API's structure and the function of each endpoint. It's like sharpening your axe before cutting wood—it makes the task much easier.

Understanding the endpoints thoroughly allows us, as frontend developers, to integrate and utilize them more effectively, leading to faster and smoother development.
