Importance of Certification

We live in a highly digitized and hyperconnected world, where every interaction results in the generation of massive datasets. The consumption and usage of data requires comprehensive facilities and this, in turn, has led to record demands for data centers in the last few years.

Today’s selection of data center providers ranges from one-size-fits-all hosting services to highly customizable colocation arrangements. But finding the best fit isn’t the easiest decision for businesses. Whether the business is looking to host basic employee applications off-site or deploy the infrastructure to serve millions of consumer transactions originating from around the globe, finding the right partner is critical. Each facility has different standards and services, and businesses need to consider various factors in finding the right data center.

Beyond the general definition of certification as credential that verifies the knowledge and expertise on a specific topic, it is essential that the data center ecosystem is completely certified and attested by leading international accreditation bodies. Certified infrastructure must be made up of certified technologies, tools, systems, and components.

The business case for data center certification primarily is maintaining the availability of data centers through effective data center infrastructure management and following rigorous international standards, capable of validating and measuring its quality of service. The attained credentials will help data centers gain knowledge and expertise covering infrastructure aspects, acquire new skills, and validate data centers’ core elements.

For this reason, knowing what to look for can help you choose the best data center partner for your organization for your current and future needs.

Data Center Design and Construction

Data centers are becoming increasingly complex not only to manage but also to design. Facility owners, while focused on up-time, continually seek to optimize data center operations, and incorporate best practices in cooling, power, and other systems to make facilities more efficient. Modern data center design should deliver improved efficiency, resiliency, flexibility, security, and value - compelling the industry to re-think how we deploy purpose-built data center designs.

Khazna Data Centers (Khazna) is setting up efficient design and delivery, at a quicker pace, halving the time it takes to get the data center operational compared to traditional construction methods. The model adopted for the new data centers addresses enterprise data center requirements by presenting highly secure, ultra-modern wholesale data centers that are fully equipped with the latest technologies. Khazna has achieved the Uptime Institute’s Tier III certification of Design and Constructed Facility for its data centers.

Sustainability

The impact that data centers have on the environment has not gone unnoticed. With more organizations looking to reduce their data center footprints and optimize data center capacity, it is essential to mitigate the industry’s environmental impacts, conserve natural resources and protect ecosystems from destruction.

Achieving sustainability means addressing environmental constraints during design gateway as well as during the build. At Khazna, we have the responsibility to utilize technology to power a more sustainable future. Our ‘Future First Strategy’ focuses on designing, building, and operating the most energy efficient and sustainable data centers across the entire region. Our new design initiatives correspond with the global Science Based Targets initiatives (SBTi).

In September 2022, Khazna and BEEAH Digital formed a joint venture that will bring to Sharjah its first Tier III data center. The data center is designed with sustainability in mind and will be built in line with sustainable credentials implementing renewable energy sources to meet the data center’s power requirements. The new data centers are built and certified to ESTIDAMA Pearl Building Rating (rating of 4 Pearls) and LEED Gold for green building certifications.

Compliance

Khazna was awarded international certification in ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 by Bureau Veritas for its Quality Management System, Environmental Management System and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management System. These certifications certify that Khazna provides a safe workplace by proactively improving its OH&S performance, manages its environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner, and offers products and services that meet and exceed customer’s applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Security

Securing the data center has never been more important. Data breaches and other cyberattacks are a growing threat for any businesses.  In response to the cyberthreats and data breached, Khazna facilities are accredited with Information Security Management System (ISO/IEC 27001) by BSI Middle East and Africa. This standard helped Khazna to secure information in all forms, including paper-based, cloud-based, building management systems and digital data, respond to evolving cyber threats and increase resilience to cyber-attacks, provide a centrally managed framework that secured all information in one place, and protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data.
