An infinity insight behind the data

Data Analysis Process

When you get data, what is the first thing that you have to do? or do you still find it confusing? Let's get started with data analysis process:

  1. Ask: before you jump in data, you have to know what is the problem that you need to solve. You can ask stakeholder or communicate with others by asking an effective question to get your problem objective
  2. Prepare: define what data you need to solve is crucial because this will determine the next steps. Make sure your data collected is not bias and credible
  3. Process: not all data is "clean", so that's why cleaning data is important to make your conclusion valid. There are some cleaning data technique like remove data redundant, changing typos, transforming data, and etc.
  4. Analyze: this is the moment where your critical thinking will be tested. Find the pattern between data, get the prediction and answer related to your problem objective
  5. Share: What's the point of coming to a conclusion without telling stakeholders? this phase requires your data visualization and data storytelling skill. Make sure everyone understand you analyze result
  6. Act: use this insight as best as possible to implement it within the company

Database x SQL

A database is a collection of data in a computer system that can be arranged according to data needs such as tables, graphs, and so on. Meanwhile, SQL (Structured Query Language) is the language used to make requests to the database displaying the desired data

BigQuery Hands-on

One of the tools that you can use is Google BigQuery which has a faster processing system than other tools.

Fundamental of Data Visualization

Not everyone can understand data that easily, therefore data visualization plays a very important role in sharing the results of your analysis. So, how do you make good data visualization?

Make sure that the results of your analysis are conveyed well (information), create a story or interconnected plot from the data (story), of course include your goal in creating this data visualization (goal), and finally choose the right form of visualization (visual form)

One of the tools that you can use is Tableau. Tableau provides various interesting features starting from selecting visualizations, colors, text, labels, titles, and much more. Especially if you want to create interactive data visualizations, known as dashboards, Tableau is the right tool

Data storytelling is a must

good visualization will not necessarily be conveyed if it is not accompanied by good data storytelling too. Data storytelling is basically how you convey the results of your analysis systematically so that they are easy to understand. So how do you do it?

  1. Engage your audience: It's very important to get the attention of the audience, what's the point of speaking in public without being noticed?
  2. Create a great visualization: Most people prefer picture books to books full of writing, why? because the visuals are more interesting. Create visuals that highlight insights in the data
  3. Tells story in narrative way: Narrative means systematic starting from who is involved (Characters), explaining the situation (setting), what the main problem is (plot), how the data answers the problem (big reveal), and giving recommendations ("Aha" Moment)
