Ice Age

In the olden days, before fridges, people had to harvest ice to keep things cool. They'd trek to frozen lakes, chop out big ice blocks, and ship them worldwide. You can even spot this in classic books like "Walden" or popular movies like "Frozen" (remember that ice harvesting opening scene?).

But then, along came fridges. Suddenly, people could chill their food and make ice cubes right at home. The ice industry, with its harvesters, trade routes, and monopolies, melted away. Surprisingly, none of the big shots in the ice business saw the shift coming and went bankrupt. It was General Electric that triumphed as the first company to sell fridges to regular folks.

Nowadays, you can't even open a fridge without "ChatGPT giving you a friendly notification". AI language models and generated content are everywhere, whether we like it or not, shaping our lives without asking for permission. From 2010 to 2020, we crammed everything into our phones, but now the real deal is AI-powered apps. Every week, a swarm of AI startups pops up, but the heavyweights like Microsoft still set the AI pace. So, if Big Tech stays relevant, are they still peddling harvested ice?

Everyone's digital fingerprint (all the traces you leave in the commercial clouds) is consumed by the AI. As a software engineer, I'm getting my hands dirty with Mojo, a programming language made for the AI era to not only know what it do, but also how it is done. Check it out at https://www.modular.com
