IBM Integrated Analytics System 1.0.11.1
Since my last article, our incredible team of developers, writers, and testers continue to excel. In early September, we released IBM Integrated Analytics System version 1.0.11.0 and subsequently 1.0.11.1.
As well as integrating the IBM Lift to Cloud solution, this release also includes a number of improvements for the disaster recovery solution, a new tool for managing password policy within IIAS, and many smaller enhancements and fixes.
IBM Lift CLI could always be used in previous releases to move data from IIAS to IBM Db2 on Cloud and IBM Db2 Warehouse on Cloud, but it required some extra configuration steps. Now, Lift is integrated into the IIAS web console, significantly improving the overall user experience. We provided a Lift to Cloud UI panel which allows you to define your migration tasks with just a few clicks: you specify source and target, you can select how to proceed if the table already exists in the target, you can also choose to append data to the existing table. Then, after successful verification of all settings, you start the migration task and view its progress. Each task can be saved with a name of your choice and used later as a template.
Another improvement in the web console is a smart baseline which is generated based on Machine Learning Model trained by historical data in your system. The baseline shows you a typical range for comparison for better monitoring of database throughput, database contention, and database responsiveness.
We continue to enhance the file system based disaster recovery solution. It now supports a failback scenario, so that once you repair your primary system after the failure, you can restore it back to the primary role. There is also a new widget in the web console for monitoring disaster recovery. It allows you to verify that the primary and secondary systems are communicating and ready for the next snapshot. You can also view the time of the last snapshot taken, and the time of the next scheduled snapshot. Disaster recovery can also be enabled for two IIAS systems that have Tier2 storage.
If you choose to backup and restore with EMC NetWorker, it is now easier to manage with the emc_client command, which allows you to install, configure and view EMC NetWorker settings, or, if necessary, start and stop the service.
For enhanced security in user authentication, a new utility ap_ldap_ppolicy.pl is introduced. It allows you to define customized password policy settings and apply them for internal LDAP user authentication.
