Most of us may be used to the exponential nature of forgetting. A learning overdose can put learners off. Learners are more likely to opt for something that is less time-consuming and fulfills their learning needs in a moment. Microlearning can be used very effectively to create sticky learning experiences.

Microlearning, a term that is being mentioned quite often as of late, especially in corporate e-learning environments is “micro-learning”. This teaching approach can provide a wide range of benefits. Although chunking content into short bytes has existed for a long time, an increased focus is seen on microlearning as a fairly significant part of an organization’s overall training delivery. The professionals realized this and are exploring different ways and formats of microlearning to leverage the power of “less is more”.

Micro-learning involves learning in smaller steps that are designed to meet a specific learning outcome and goes hand-in-hand with traditional e-learning. It can be used to offer formal training but with a focus on performance gain, it often finds a wider usage in informal training.
