Head in the clouds
What does it take to make software? And how to find the people that will love creating software and have fun creating software.
I love writing software, and over the years we have had some amazing people joining us to help create our software. Once again we are trying to find a couple more people to join us, my preference is to be as open as possible about the process since some of the best people we have had over the years have been the most unexpected.
Software requires very high intelligence but some of the most intelligent people have no formal education! So whilst we have great people with Phd Maths or better, we look at people that have no school qualifications, but have code that is good enough for major projects.
The other challenge is that being able to make a processor sing and dance and to be able to talk with the computer often comes with a corresponding difficulty in talking with people. We think it is easier to help people communicate with other people than to teach them to communicate with computers, and if you are great at communicating with computers well you can talk to us via the computer and that is fine by us.
A lot of IT/Computer Science/Games Degrees are rubbish and people are evaluated on the wrong things; so if you make/create an amazing game but were marked on how you wrote up your game diary, or have half your marks on essay writing in some weird academic games speak that has nothing to do with either making games, selling games but is a strange dialect for those people that study games in an academic sense. We are interested in your talent.
We really like working with Universities and have now had 3 Phd/Doctorates awarded for work at our offices. However, a lot of undergraduate courses are poor/rubbish and we are happy to take on really talented people prior to University.
Similarly most of our people have good degrees, and we are happy to look at how we can move you forward as a graduate to perhaps do some post graduate work and get higher qualifications.
Anyway we are looking for people with talent, and the way to demonstrate your talent is by sending us some interesting apps that you have created.
Any software language, any type of app, any type of platform. There are a lot of languages, apps and platforms, and talented people can write in any language.
Our quest is for talent not CV's.
So please send me something interesting to https://www.garudax.id/in/ronaldduncan/ and I am happy to connect with potential developers.
What sort of things have we had in the past?
A nice performance analyser for sql databases
A screen saver in assembler (when screen savers had just come out)
Connect 4 in Java (when Java had just come out)
A commercial medical device simulator
A artificial language generator in forth
A video email program in the time of dial up modems when there was not enough bandwidth for dial up modem
A nice screen sharer for mobile, tablet and pc
We would like your help to create our cloud, and hope to make it fun and rewarding for you.
We provide ecommerce and this means we extend into everything from content management to artificial intelligence and need to be able to scale up in a secure way.
I hope you can join us, and look forward to seeing what you can do.
Best regards
Ronald Duncan https://www.garudax.id/in/ronaldduncan/
