GitHub Backup - Learning to Code Python with AI

GitHub Backup - Learning to Code Python with AI

Week 2, Day 1 (late afternoon)

Today is still Saturday. Even though I am staying at Ohio’s wonderful Geneva-on-the-Lake resort, it’s raining and I have another opportunity to play around with n8n.io and GitHub. My next step is to make sure that my n8n.io workflow is being integrated with and backed up by GitHub.

It’s a bigger step than expected because an n8n.io workflow has to be setup to send the other workflows to be backed up. Initial research shows that this is a complicated process.

So, this is another step to setup my development environment and will need to be done before the real use project (GenPub) can get started. That’s ok, but my first impression is that it will take about a week to get done. Tomorrow is Sunday, so maybe if I can get a jump on it, it can get done tomorrow.

Before shutting down for the day, I decided to download the YouTube JSON file from Oskar and try editing that code in n8n.io rather than writing from scratch. We’ll see how it goes.

To Do: -

1) Daily Motivational Text – DONE (pending final testing tomorrow)

2) Validate that n8n.io workflow is backed up via GitHub

a. Another detour. Not an easy command to backup the workflows. Need to setup a new workflow to identify and then backup the desired workflows on a set schedule or run manually.

b. In any case, this would be a basic step that has to be done or I will be running with no backups and it could get ugly.

c. Noted that GitHub has built-in integrations with CoPilot for editing code, etc. So, right now I am copy/pasting to get python code. This GitHub integration with CoPilot might have some benefits in the future. We’ll keep an eye out for the next opportunity. Until then, cut/paste works.

3) Get started on the real project.
