The Future is Now
Sunday 6th December was a momentous day for the Kuang-Chi Martin Jetpack Joint Venture, with the first public manned flight being held at the OCT Harbour. A crowd of 2400VIPs from around the world and a further crowd of around 10,000 spectators watched as the Martin Jetpack flew around the harbour, both manned and unmanned.
As the display pilot for the manned flight, I found it exhilarating to fly at OCT Harbour, and the aircraft performed very well. The Flight Operations team did a stellar job of reconfiguring the aircraft from manned to unmanned configuration, in a very short amount of time. This was to help demonstrate the fact that the Martin Jetpack is not just a manned aircraft, but can be flown unmanned as well. We are developing a suite of unmanned variants, all of which are hugely exciting and game changers in their own right.
Being able to hover hands-off is a key feature of the Martin Jetpack, and this feature alone is going to be tremendously useful for the first responder communities and operators of tactical air assets. When coupled with our networked aircraft (manned and unmanned), this makes the Martin Jetpack tremendously useful, particularly in an urban environment.
To wrap things up, we also signed an agreement with three separate companies, through the KuangChi Martin Jetpack Joint Venture, for 100 Jetpacks and 20 simulators.
We are delivering the future, and the future is now.
Proud of you, good stuff.
Great to see Michael Read and Martin Aircraft Company revolutionising the aviation industry to provide innovative solutions to real world problems.
