The Future of NoCode/LowCode

The Future of NoCode/LowCode

The increase in the cost of good programming and the decreasing availability of good programmers has made no-code an attractive approach to software development. It is ideal for new entrepreneurs to work independently of developers in more ways than you’d imagine. It makes business owners self-reliant or at least minimally reliant on developers (in case of low-code).

Let's look at some reasons why individuals are and will be turning to no-code as an alternative to long, traditional coding -

  1. Accessibility - Gone are those days when technology was available to just a handful of professionals. With increased connectivity and many software building options at your disposal, you don’t have to turn to a developer for their services.
  2. Ease - No-code offers you visual programming, what you see is what you get. You can drag and drop your way to a professional-looking website and application. You need not have any prior programming knowledge.
  3. Gentle Learning Curve - Learning no-code software development is definitely easier than learning how to code. You learn as you go. If you get used to it, you can do it.

How has the no-code/ low-code industry grown so far?

According to Forbes, about 60% of all applications are developed independently of the IT department, 40% of which are from a professional setting. This is made possible because of users directly developing their digital properties using no-code or low-code platforms. These figures are only to grow in the coming years. At least 65% of all applications will be developed using this innovation by 2024.

Globally, low-code platform market revenue had a value of almost USD 13 billion in the year 2020 (as per the study curated by Statista.com in August 2021). The value is expected to reach 65 billion dollars in the year 2025.

What are some no code services and brands that are worth taking a look at?

  1. Mobile apps like Adalo, Glide, AppSheet, Thunkable, etc.
  2. Web apps like Wix, .bubble, Smartapp.com, Betty Blocks, Strikingly, etc.
  3. Workflow automation platforms like Parabola, Phantom Automations, Alloy, Standard Library, etc.
  4. Docs & databases platforms like Airtable, Notion, Quip, Dash Dash, and more.
  5. Data Science (AI/ ML) platforms like Obviously.ai and Lobe.
  6. Voice Automation tools like Vuix and Voiceflow.
  7. Payments & Monetisation like MemberStack and Glow.
  8. AR, 3D & Gaming development platforms like Dreamcraft, Flowlab, Blippar, etc.
  9. IoT platforms like ThingLogix and Axonize.
