The Future of Data Analytics and Wayfinding...Wireless Location Services

In today’s ever increasing competitive business landscape, an organization’s ability to quickly and efficiently meet and exceed customer expectations is paramount to the organization’s survival. Competent and useful business intelligence about customer behaviors, consumption patterns, and their perception of your organization is key to maximizing brand awareness and loyalty. This is true whether you are a retail store, automobile dealership, or large enterprise healthcare customer. Gathering this business intelligence in a way that is quick enough to allow for business decisions to be made and customer engagement to be completed is the key to survival in the digital age.

For the better part of a century, organizations have relied upon gathering information about customer behavior in pretty much the same way. Counting inventory/resources and comparing those to customer demands. An entire marketing ecosystem grew out of, and flourished as result of, this demand for business intelligence. This intelligence often required months of studying market trends and customer consumption models. A little over a quarter of a century ago this intelligence was dramatically changed by the rise of the personal computer and the development of inventory control systems and customer satisfaction surveys. Quicker and more reliable than prior methods of gathering business intelligence but still lagging behind the ever increasing velocity of change brought on by the digital revolution and online consumption models.

Smartphones and the consumerization of enterprise devices became the norm a few years back as Wi-Fi technologies advanced to the level where the consumer had access to an endless amount of competitive information. With pervasive Wi-Fi for connectivity, the era of the digital shopper was born. A shopper who could compare the cost of items seen in traditional brick and mortar establishment with online competitors while actually in the store. Patients could shop online for local healthcare resources. As the speed of technological capabilities of customer devices increased, so did the need to glean information about how the customer behaves in an almost realtime way. Wi-Fi seemed to be the common denominator among the large variety of customer devices.

Wi-Fi became the preferred form of connectivity among the customers of today. Wi-Fi is not only needed but it is also expected to be provided wherever the modern shopper goes. Recent advances in technology are allowing for customer behaviors to be captured in ways that could never have been foreseen just a decade ago. Wi-Fi location services and rich data analytics can now be utilized to not only gain insight into what a customer does within the organization’s physical location, but leaders of business can now look at important location based data within the organization’s facility to provide insight and timely action into consumer behaviors, purchasing patterns, and competitive pressures. Engaging the modern customer allows for a more personal touch, which in turn, converts into a better perceived customer experience, and by proxy, better brand loyalty.
