The Future of Apps
Apps Introduced by Steve Jobs with the first iPhone.
They have changed our lives in more than one way.
The annoying part about apps is they take up storage and they are designed to do a very limited task. For E.g. WhatsApp is purely a messaging service with text, Video/ Audio.
Uber is used for booking a cab etc.
The other person must have the same app to access the services. Also, they have different interfaces in a different country if they are global services. In some cases, the app is country specific so it just won’t work.
So, what is the next big thing?
In my opinion is the next big thing is going to be the “Assistants” Google, Siri & Alexa’s of the world.
This eradicates the need to installing apps to your phone.Simply say what you need and the assistant does it for you.No more getting in and out of apps to do you functionality.
The assistant is personalised understands your personality thanks to AI. We are already seeing a shift where Alexa can hail Uber.
You call now call Alexa by a different name, perhaps Jarvis (feel like Tony Stark).
Looking at Android side of things Android Instant app has just been introduced and this is the step the direction of our mobiles going app free.
So, what does all this mean?
People who are not so tech-savvy doesn't need to worry about what apps are missing out of their phone, simply talk to your phone and Voila.
- You do not require that big a storage to fit in all the apps you need.
- OS will be irrespective for the app (cross compatibility)
Our smartphones are more powerful than ever, they do a lot more than what they used to do even a couple of years back and they are getting better.
Apps were the true innovation started by Apple and adopted by other operating systems, but times are changing and in my opinion, the next big thing is the personal, virtual assistant.
With the introduction of 5G, things are about to get really interesting.
Nice!
