The Frontend Roadmap

If you are starting out in front end development and you're looking to find your feet, then this front-end roadmap is for you.

This will help and guide you in your learning journey. From the ground up. I found it and it has helped me a lot.

Tech is vast and you'll get burned out, frustrated or even burned out if you don't have a guide.

Developing frontend skills: as a frontend developer, you need to adopt this skills to build seamless and scalable websites.

  1. Interactivity
  2. Visually appealing
  3. Technical ability
  4. Creative insights

Front-end Frameworks and libraries

Frameworks and libraries help to create dynamic websites without having to start from scratch.

Some front-end frameworks include:

  •  React: Developed by Facebook, React is a component-based library that excels in building user interfaces. It is known for its high performance, scalability, and the use of a Virtual DOM, which optimizes rendering processes. React is widely used in single-page applications and allows for the reuse of components across projects.
  • Angular: Angular is a comprehensive framework developed by Google for building large-scale applications. It uses TypeScript and offers features like dependency injection, two-way data binding, and a robust templating system. Angular is particularly useful for complex applications due to its modularity and scalability.

  • Vue.js: Vue is a progressive framework that emphasizes simplicity and ease of integration. It follows the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) architecture, making it suitable for both small and complex applications. Vue features a reactive data binding system and a virtual DOM, which helps in creating dynamic interfaces with minimal boilerplate code

  •  Bootstrap: Bootstrap is a front-end framework designed for responsive web design. It provides pre-designed components and a grid system that helps developers create mobile-first websites efficiently.

Basic UI/UX to be equipped with as a front-end developer;

  • User-centered design
  • Color theory
  • Typography
  • Layout
  • Optimization

Some terms to note:

*caching mechanisms: this helps improve loading speeds

*Github: this is a platform where developers store code and also collaborate. Code is stored using git.

(More on these two will be discussed in the next newsletter).
