From Concept to Render: Developing a 3D Scene
Original concept from the amazing @mari_ftavaresOriginal concept from the amazing @mari_ftavaresAs part of the first module of the Blender 3D course at Escola Revolution , I developed a project inspired by animated storytelling, focusing on the design and texturing of characters and scene elements.
The story follows an alien who dreams of becoming a space racer. Set on a scrapyard planet, the protagonist, alongside his robotic assistant, repairs an old spaceship to compete in intergalactic races.
The project was based on an original concept by artist @mari_ftavares, which I adapted by reinterpreting the design and applying my own vision through shaders and lighting.
🛠️ Creative Process
This project marked my first hands-on experience in the Professional Blender Training Program, where I applied modeling, texturing, and lighting techniques studied throughout the module. The goal was to explore how to tell a visual story through the design and lookdev of characters, vehicles, and environments.
For the development of the planets and the moon, I worked with procedural shaders to create different surfaces and atmospheres, bringing visual cohesion to the scene while reinforcing the narrative of a diverse universe.
The main character is the alien, accompanied by his robotic assistant. Both received special attention in modeling and texturing, aiming for an expressive and narrative style that matches the playful tone of the story.

I created two lookdevs for the protagonist’s spaceship: the main one, used in the scene, was inspired by race cars, emphasizing speed and performance. The second lookdev was more playful, bringing references to the Pizza Planet truck from Toy Story.
In addition to the final render of the main scene, I produced an extra render to further develop the narrative and explore a different composition and atmosphere.
References and Inspiration
The scene was built based on a concept by artist @mari_ftavares. My approach was to recreate the scene while preserving its narrative, but applying my own interpretation in shaders and lighting to add personality to the project.
This project consolidated the knowledge acquired in Module 1, allowing me to explore visual storytelling, characters, and stylized 3D worlds. It was an experience that strengthened my skills in modeling, look development, procedural shading, and lighting, and it will serve as a foundation for future projects.
