Faculty Development Programme
The Department of Management Studies, SNS College of Technology, successfully organized a one-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Tableau and Analytics” for faculty members and I MBA students. The session aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge of data visualization, business intelligence tools, and analytical thinking, which are essential skills in today’s data-driven business environment.
The resource person for the programme was Ms. B. S. Akshaya, Senior Software Engineer at ISYSWAY Technologies. With her rich industry experience and technical expertise, she provided valuable insights into the practical applications of Tableau in business analytics. The session began with an introduction to the importance of data analytics in managerial decision-making and how organizations leverage data to gain competitive advantage.
Ms. Akshaya explained the fundamentals of Tableau, including data connection, data cleaning, creating dashboards, and generating interactive visual reports. She demonstrated how raw data can be transformed into meaningful visualizations that support strategic decisions. The hands-on training component of the FDP enabled participants to work directly with datasets, create charts, apply filters, and design dashboards. This practical exposure significantly enhanced their understanding of analytical tools and techniques.
