Exploring the City with Citi Bike: Data Visualization Project
I'm excited to share a recent data visualization challenge from my Data Analytics course with edX.
Using Tableau, I transformed Citi Bike ride data (cleaned using Pandas first) into a compelling data story. The project includes:
🗺️ Interactive Dashboards: I created two dynamic dashboards that lets users explore Citi Bike stations, see where rides originate and end, and learn about ride trends. The dashboard includes interactive actions such as a filter by month triggered by selecting a month on a graph of a year's worth of trends.
🏙 Usage Reports: My first dashboard clearly shows monthly trends in station usage for Citi Bike stations across NYC. These reports highlight both under-used stations in high traffic areas and areas where adding more stations may be profitable.
📈 Ride Duration Trends: I dug into the data to uncover interesting insights about ride duration trends. From quick commutes to leisurely weekend rides, the data paints a fascinating picture of how people use Citi Bikes.
⏰ Time-of-Day Analysis: Exploring when people ride is just as important as where they ride. The time-of-day analysis provides valuable insights into commuting patterns and leisure rides.
📑 I've packaged it all into a Tableau story, making it easy for anyone to follow along and gain insights from the data. Feel free to check it out here:
Thanks to Citi Bike's publicly available data, I was able to complete this project using real-world business data! (Please note that Tableau Public Free would not allow me to make an adaptive view, so this story is meant to be viewed on desktop.)
Very colorful, I like it!
Nicely done!
