Evolve your analytics platform with a Hackathon approach, Together with the Partner Ecosystem.
Organizations are charging ahead with investments in analytics to support their digital transformation. To that end, cloud adoption has become a strategic imperative for enterprises.
But before you start any journey, you should consider answering the following questions; Why, Who, What, When, Where and How - Should we approach this journey?
If you decide evolving and exploring analytical possibilities through a hackathon approach, you could view it from four main “containers”.
So, what are these containers and how are they connected and orchestrated Together for a better result?
Above picture illustrate the four main containers. 1. Technical (Where & how) 2. Use-case (Why & what value) 3. Social (Who and where) 4. Enablement (How and when).
Let’s take the container-based approach and apply it on the Nordic Hackathon.
Technical container
If we begin with the Technical container, we had a great cooperation with Intel, Microsoft Azure and Esri. This container was mainly driven Niels Grønning and Frederik Vandenberghe. It was the foundation of the hackathon, to make the SAS Software available in the cloud for easy access for our partners to build their showcases (use-case container). Another BIG part of this container is Technical SUPPORT, in this case handled by SAM Support in Holland, doing remote manage application support on Azure & SAS.
Frederik and Niels also worked with social and enablement container to publish blogs, LinkedIn and twitter posts on how to. See example below:
Use case and business value container.
This container driven by our fantastic Partners, together with customers and students. The components driving this container was of course the “use case/business value or data for good”, data access, quality of the data, skilled data scientist, last but not least Storytelling capabilities.
The end results of the Nordic Hackathon were to create two videos. Describing their work with the analytical life cycle, development process and the result of the use case. All videos available on the hackathon site produced by our partners and published by the “social container”; Watch the end results here,
Enablement container
The power to know. It’s essential to have access to right people, but also to have easy access to the right information. For the Nordic Hackathon we launched 11 webinars with different focus, all from data management, deep learning/AI, but also on storytelling and video creation. We also had coaches available for the teams, to help them connect with experts. The main driver of this container was Gert Nissen SAS FANS, together with our SAS Analytic Advisors running the webinars. The webinars are still available:
Social cluster container.
Mainly orchestrated by Kicki Björkvall and Yvonne Bjurstam from marketing, but also driven from “social people in different clusters”, like:
- Internal SAS people (Marketing, Technical, Enablement, Analytical Advisory,)
- Partners joining the hackathon
- Jury members - especially Michelle Homes
- Sponsor, Microsoft Azure, intel and Esri
- FANS events like SAS Forum and webinars
All clusters contributing with social media posts and videos from the hackathon event. If you are running another type of Hackathon, you could still use the social container, i.e. reaching out to your partner eco-system to see how they could help you evolve in your analytical journey. By connecting the social clusters and finding the intersection/the common driver between them, you can really leverage the power of the “social ecosystem”. See example from Christer Bodell and Joel Jönsson:
Orchestration of the containers
The individual containers need of course orchestrations done by the responsible for managing the container and the services included. On top of all the containers you also need orchestration of all the containers, to see that they are working Together. In the Nordic Hackathon we had a container board, sharing, coordinating and working and executing ideas Together. See the container board below.
Would you like to explore new ideas and evolve your analytical skills?
We have skilled partners that can help you help take the next step.
- What’s your target architecture, cloud environment, infrastructure, databases, security, scalability, flexibility needs, your ecosystem?
- They can help you to set-up the cloud environment, with the Software that you need. With QuickStart on Azure and AWS you can easy get started.
- They can support and enable you on Analytics/AI
- From idea to production in one month?
A fabulous summary on the power of community collaboration and what can be achieved! A credit to you Peter and the support team in providing the togetherness, vision and orchestration to enable #SASPartners and strengthen the ecosystem. 🙌 #powerofthepartner #social cc: Dermot McCutcheon
