Not everything needs to be shared.

Not everything needs to be shared.

I was an avid proponent of "Sharing is Caring". If I agree with things on the internet, I would reshare/repost/retweet it. If I have an urge to tell people what is right, I would write it, contribute to society, inspire people, and save the day.

But I was wrong. I am nobody. Sharing things about the article that I agreed upon, anime/manga/series that I liked, writing an article about my opinion has no value for other people or even for myself.

Stephen Covey coined the term "Emotional Bank Account". When a person tries to influence others, emotion plays a role in its effectiveness. I realized that it is the reality in this world. If nobody knew me personally, why would they care for the information that I am about to share?

Now I realize that the ones who will hear or require my opinion would be my direct reports, coworkers, boss, closest friend, and family. They are a tiny circle under my influence due to us having the opportunity to be bonded by the circumstances.

If I want to share publicly anything in a writing format. I will ensure they are:

  1. Not offensive
  2. Appropriate for networking opportunity
  3. Well researched and is a teachable material

Have a great weekend everyone.
