Distributed Transporting or Decentralized Transportation

Sounds like distributed computing , Correct ,Infact the idea originated from distributed computing(D.C) itself.I assume all viewers are aware of D.C.

For those who are new for D.C can google it.

The primary purpose of D.C is to improve performance , lets get more precisely about performance,it is to get large tasks done in confined time such that we can over come delay in task achievement. D.C consists features like scalability,redundancy(Several machines can provide the same services, so if one is unavailable, work does not stop. Additionally, because many smaller machines can be used, this redundancy does not need to be prohibitively expensive.)

our main problem solver is number of processing units involved,more the number of CPU's more the performance. 

So what is Distributed transporting.Here agenda is not to deal with network or bandwidth issues associated with D.C , but concern is about real time transportation.How smart we could transform existing transportation when we inherit above D.C concept.

Lets consider a situation where majority of people move to work in city centers,Industrial parks,IT parks which are usually located in middle or outskirts of the city.

Imagine if a person will start from center to B(outskirt) both up and down daily given in above picture, assume person is not having vehicle , some of the available transportation options person has ,is taking 3 public buses, 2 Metro trains or cab with high price. In order to take bus or metro trains he needs to be on time and on other hand when he book a cab he need to wait for cab ,sometimes they might be over crowded or shortage.Here our concern is Time , either delay or waiting which is time consuming. Once again if we recap about distributed computing(D.C) where time(performance) is major advantage of distributed computing.


How do we interpret distributed transportation with distributed computing.

If we interpolate D.C terminology, Consider CPU's as all public vehicles(two/four wheeler) , Task as Person waiting to reach destination,Task performance as person reaching destination in minimal time.Knowingly or Unknowingly many people would start to same destination with one seat vacant(if car at most 3 seats vacant) where you are likely to go or at least nearby location.If you are able to catch up with them,eventually it will reduce the effort of taking 3 buses.So using everyone's(public who are traveling) private vehicles in this event is distributed transporting.

Questions would arise like ..

  • Do common public traveling offices should become agent here ?

Obviously no , it is more like freelancer or independent.

  • There are two wheeler and four wheeler booking app's , How could this be different from those ?

Our main agenda would be targeting public during office timings who all are mutually going to same destination(nearby) from common starting point ,which is normally morning,evening and late night.So it will not impact businesses in other times.

  • Is there any women safety,if they travel on strangers vehicle ?

At this moment I haven't covered this issue , but will be updating shortly.

  • What if driver is drunk , How can we come over this situation ?

  • What is the benefit of a vehicle owner if they drop anyone to destination ?

Of course with out benefit none will come forward,This question is discussed briefly in coming paragraph.

Technology Stack contains with a simple mobile app which primarily consists of two main blocks of information one is person who picks and another is person who wish to ride.We could integrate any existing maps(google,bing,apple) API with mobile app , where rider can set their starting and ending points , a notification would be sent to all people who has this app and are willing to travel to same destination or near by location.What would be benefit for a pick up person,either we could offer any cash back(which is currently trending) or sharing fuel expense , on other hand,Person who opts for ride has huge benefit in time(either delay or waiting) and sharing fuel expense(30%-40%) might not be big deal.Cash back or Fuel benefit can be introduced by wallet facilities with in the app , which in turn is a gain for app developers to make some revenue.A well defined data model if designed,all kinds of data can be stored in databases with proper relations like capturing history of rides , Drivers information can be pulled from traffic control departments who has all automobiles info ,registration numbers,driver license numbers like RTA-m wallet maintained by Govt. of Telangana , all this information can be used for security purposes in order to eradicate abduction in cities, drunk and drive etc by designing a new API to pull information.

Advantages:

  • Efficient use of vehicles,fuel.
  • Air pollution , Sound pollution cannot be eliminated completely but can be controlled.
  • One locality people could use common vehicles which will improve traffic jam/delays.
  • Commercially it is win-win situation both.

Last but not least PREVENTION is better than CURE.More the efficient use of fuel today , More life it gives to coming generations.
