"#DevOps - Why we need it ?"

As promised, finally my first blog is here, giving it a try to articulate what DevOps is all about. Every individual and every process getting challenged and forced to think Are we doing this right(doing this job from so many years)? How I can work smartly ?

I am trying to narrate how I perceive this whole story of change and how DevOps plays a role of savior ,

What has triggered the need of DevOps, people often link this only to agility but there are many factors which triggered it, definitely help in bringing the agility to cope up with this change,

• With a need of more automation(applications) for growing sizes of business we created more applications at very demanding pace, for that we require more compute and storage which actually raised more demands for all the underlying Infrastructure and integrated services as well and that too at a rapid pace
• The Architecture often referred as "Micro-service Architecture" has generated flood of small sized applications which can be managed independently and the bottom-line is we need to manage them in an automated way,
• With the reducing margins in enterprise businesses there is a need of cost cuts on the operational tasks and whole industry has been burdened with overload of work as growing demands were supposed to be fulfilled by existing group of people,
• The growth in data is also growing at very rapid pace and there is a need for managing data more efficiently removing duplicacy is also a major challenge which initiated more applications and redesign of existing applications,
• We also piled up lots of operational tasks over the years, to add to the misery we added more complex processes around it, getting rid of this quickly is not possible,

DevOps needs first the mindset change to be followed by tools selection for automation which will help you solve the particular problem you might be having.

To become a Successful DevOps Professional and to keep it Agile, an important aspect one should emphasis is to put right checks and balances, the different sized gears in the above picture are all important tools and automation's coupled together to make this DevOps engine function smoothly it should also block (brake) the further impact to the chain if anything goes wrong.
