Developing cloud skills for customers
BJSS are not only developing their own cloud skills through a significant training program but are also helping their customers develop the necessary cloud skills though enablement and knowledge transfer programs
Our journey to develop and hone our skills in cloud began in earnest in 2015 as we saw more demand for cloud development from clients. This demand led us to create a skills investment program which has helped to establish BJSS as one of the leading providers of cloud consulting in the UK.
In return, our clients recognise that engaging with a cloud consulting partner who places great emphasis and continued investment into skills development brings its own rewards of ensuring continuous quality delivery.
Today, we have the equivalent of over a third of our workforce cloud certified with a high percentage becoming industry experts.
This recognition, investment and attention to quality delivery has resulted in multiple awards this year including AWS Public Sector partner of the year, Microsoft UK Partner of the year finalist and being recognised as a key delivery partner in the 2019 Scotland IS award for innovation within public sector.
Our plans for the next 12 months are again led by our clients who want help with further skills development, knowledge transfer, recruitment and training as part of the delivery activity.
To meet this demand, we now provide curated enablement to help accelerate cloud adoption. Activities include:
· Cloud training - we provide on-site training based on practical hands on activity to accompany certified training.
· Hackathons – we run cloud hackathons to demonstrate agility. For example, building DevOps solutions, interactively with clients, as part of a hackathon has helped clients remove perceived blockers and obstacles to adoption.
· Knowledge transfer - we have a long history of performing knowledge transfer as part of a development or modernisation program. We work with clients to take on existing systems to drive modernisation and then hand back as part of a knowledge transfer activity.
For example, in spring 2019 we ran a “Cloud Week” which was a series of client inspired technical deep dives across the UK. The event was designed to drive skills, and education around cloud technologies and increase the tech intensity and knowledge, bringing cloud skills to all. Delivered by our certified staff, the event has now become one of our most popular enablement activities.
We are always looking to collaborate and co-create with customer to enable their journey to cloud and believe we can accelerate adoption, leveraging our years of experience and investment.
