Day 13: The "Bite-Sized" Framework For Learning Data Analytics: How To Bring Learning And Action Together Without Losing Your Mind Or Your Job.
I have been practicing Data Analytics for 1.5 years, before which I only knew how to enter data into a Google Sheet and make it look pretty with colors and text wrapping.
Along the way, I have done all sorts of things to try to get better:
And all of these things helped me a ton.
But if I had to start all over again (as a beginner), this is the simple framework I wish I had for learning how to Data Analytics:
Step 1: Boost Your Confidence With An Online Course
We all need some form of validation.

Do a 1.5-hour LinkedIn Learning course that will get you started and teach you the fundamentals in a short sprint. Aim for a course that's under 1.5 hours in length. You won't finish it if it's longer. (I used to watch/listen to an analytics course whilst having breakfast. Go figure)
Step 2: Start Off With Something Fun
Is there a dataset in your CRM that's just sitting there, and you know it has potential? Export it and experiment with it using the tools you have just learned. And this is important...FOR FUN!!!
Here's what most people miss out on. Learning has to be FUN. It has to be a CHALLENGE that you want to take up. Otherwise, you WILL abandon it mid-way. As a prolific short-lived soda can who signs up for tons of courses only to abandon them, I can guarantee this.
Step 3: Pick A Low-Impact, Low-Risk Project To Experiment With
Give yourself an excuse to explore the world of analytics. Instead of manually matching fields one day, find a "Vlookup" tutorial on YouTube and spend 30 minutes learning how to do it. It will be well worth the effort.
Try it out and let me know how it works for you in the comments.
You've come such a long way — love seeing your growth in the data world! Wishing you all the best as you keep leveling up and tackling even bigger things ahead. Thank you!
