Data to the people

In an age where facts and truth are challenged, I think that it is essential that citizens and researchers have easy access to data to make their own decisions about issues that matter to them. Do not get manipulated by politicians and "experts".

What is the crime rate really - is it getting better or worse? How are prices, income levels and living standards changing over time? Is there a refugee crisis in my area?

State statistics institutes typically will have all of that information at a high level of temporal and geographic detail all for free. It is however, not always easily accessible for a non-technical person. This has motivated me to develop a package for R called danstat which is now available on CRAN. The idea is to make it easy to extract and analyse data from the Databank API of Statistics Denmark. If you would like to see any new features and/or want to contribute please visit the package Github page. Happy data exploration!
