CRITICISM
CRITICISM can be good or bad.
Defined as “the expression of disapproval of someone or something based on perceived faults or mistakes” this CRITICISM would often be considered bad, either because it is wrong or hurtful. It could be wrong because of that word “perceived” in the definition. If the perception is inaccurate then the CRITICISM is unwarranted. It could be hurtful if the disapproval is taken personally. Such CRITICISM could be good if the recipient can understand what is behind it and can do something to improve upon the perceived faults or mistakes – in that context it could be CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.
How we approach giving and receiving CRITICISM can make a lot of difference. A year ago I wrote: Consider taking a "CRITICAL approach to be being CRITICAL about CRITICAL issues" when giving or receiving feedback
