Creating a Vision of the Future
We have all done it....New Years Resolutions that is. We have the best of intentions of starting something new to create a better habit, lose weight, get in shape. But often these fail at an alarming rate.
Why is it that we are so excited about change to happen but so resistant to actually change? Change is hard but so is being stuck in a rut. So pick your hard. When we see people that have everything we want often a few thoughts come to mind. They are lucky, they were born that way, they had more opportunities than I did.
Truth is they aren't lucky, they weren't born that way and they often create the opportunities to create their success. But we don't want to hear that because we have to come to terms why we can't overcome our challenges.
We are in luck though! There is always a new day and remember its always darkest before dawn. In order to change we have to start envisioning the future that we want to create. In my business I talk about what it will look like in the future. I put timelines on myself. I tell people what I am going to do. Why? Because it creates accountability and forces me to become uncomfortable and to get out there and make it happen.
In order to change our lives we have to change how we view each day. We have to become proactive. If we are always reactive then life just happens. If we want to shape the future we have to first have a vision of it. Then create a proactive mindset that makes it happen. A great way to do this is with positive affirmations. Tell yourself before a big meeting " I am prepared for this meeting and I am going to nail it!" Odds are you going to do exactly that! We become what we fill our minds with. Choose to fill it with positive thoughts of the future and you will find yourself creating the future you always dreamed of.
