Data, Privacy, and Security for Microsoft 365 Copilot | Microsoft Learn - To help block harmful content, Microsoft 365 Copilot makes use of the Azure OpenAI Service, which includes a content filtering system that works alongside core models. The content filtering models for the Hate & Fairness, Sexual, Violence, and Self-harm categories have been specifically trained and tested in various languages. This system works by running both the input prompt and the response through classification models that are designed to identify and block the output of harmful content.

Configure a Communication Compliance policy to detect generative AI interactions | Microsoft Learn - You can use Communication Compliance to analyze interactions (prompts and responses) to detect inappropriate or risky interactions or sharing of confidential information entered into numerous generative AI applications.

Trouble shooting Access:

Solution: Set the EntraID attribute for AgeGroup = NotAdult/Adult based on the age of student

M365 Copilot is not available for Minors and will be available only for Students >13 year and set with AgeGroup Attribute = NotAdult or AgeGroup  = Adult

  1. Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat for Students 13+ | Microsoft Community Hub
  2. The Community article explains the acceptable attributes for the EntraID Attribute = AgeGroup that states as "Use Microsoft Graph API or Microsoft Entra Admin Center to view and update the ageGroup attribute.Acceptable values: Minor, NotAdult, Adult"
  3. This means that Minor, NotAdult and Adult are the acceptable values for the EntraID attribute and does not confirm availability of M365 Copilot Chat to all AgeGroups
  4. The article Elevating User Management with Age Group and Consent Provided Fields in Microsoft Entra | Microsoft… explains that for Attribute Minor:"All users will be blocked from using M365 Copilot, but authentication to EntraID will be allowed"
  5. In addition the document Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat for Students 13+ | Microsoft Community Hub has a headline and first sentence that explains "Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat coming to students aged 13 and older this summer"
  6. As per points 5,6,7,8 it is evident that M365 Copilot chat is not available to the AgeGroup = Minor
  7. Recommended Admin to test an account with AgeGroup Attribute = NotAdult
  8. Allow 48 hours for the services to sync across endpoints and test

The sushi platter is a odd banner for the topic, but I’m all for it 🍣😅
