Connecting the dots in the evolving IoT & Edge Computing Standards Landscape
In a time where interconnected devices are defining the future of industry, mobility, smart cities, and digital services, ICT standards are the invisible threads that hold everything together.
Yet navigating the standards landscape, especially for IoT and Edge Computing, can feel like mapping the cosmos. That’s where StandICT.eu 2026 and AIOTI (Alliance for AI, IoT and Edge Continuum Innovation) come in. Together, we have recently published the Report of TWG IoT & Edge: Landscape of Internet of Things | V.2.
What’s Inside: A Systematic Map of the IoT Standards Landscape
The IoT ecosystem is incredibly dynamic. This report gives policymakers, SMEs, researchers, and SDOs a powerful compass to navigate the standards landscape and find where their work fits in. The Landscape of Internet of Things | V.2 is the result of a collaborative effort from the Technical Working Group on IoT & Edge, co-led by StandICT.eu and AIOTI.
This report provides a comprehensive database of over 200 IoT-related specifications and documents along with insights into key SDOs, alliances, and open-source initiatives driving IoT innovation. The structure of the report is outlined in a way cover several vertical industry domains (e.g., manufacturing, health, energy, cities) and horizontal topics (e.g., connectivity, security, sustainability).

With dozens of active and sometimes competing standardisation initiatives across the globe, the IoT and Edge landscapes are difficult to visualise and even harder to act on. This report was crafted to clarify the standards terrain for stakeholders at all levels and enable better alignment with EU digital priorities and global trends, as well as help SMEs and industry players position themselves within international SDOs.
We’re marking the release of this report with a joint webinar on 8 July 2025 at 14:30–15:30 CEST. Join us and and amazing lineup of speakers: Antonio Kung , Maria Giuffrida , Maria Ines Robles , Axel Rennoch . The event explores the most relevant highlights, key findings, and invite open discussion on where we go from here.
