Competition

Competition

There are two ways you can respond to negativity: you can allow it to discourage you, or you can use it as motivation. I lean heavily towards that second option.

I love competing. In my spare time, I play hockey, some basketball and do a lot of video gaming.

In business, I’m driven to compete and be the best. Right now, I am competing to educate people about virtual currency as an alternative currency for the future. So when change-resistant forces push back, it motivates me.

Some days, I feel like I’m back in art school and my peers are telling me to stop fooling around with digital technology, that it’s just a toy that will never be taken seriously.

Yeah, right, I thought. Just watch what I can do with it.

There have been years when it seemed like everyone was saying virtual currencies have no future, it’s not going to work, governments will shut it down. We all know that didn’t happen, but the negativity motivates me. It makes me want to prove the naysayers wrong.

But more importantly—as with Photoshop many years ago—I can see that there’s a far better way, and I want people to benefit from it.
