Cognitive Computing: What Cognitive computing is? How it will be a blessing for mankind?

According to study, Human Brain and current computers can’t understand 80% of data which we can say 80% data as unstructured data or dark data. 

Now a question arises, Is there any possibility to convert unstructured or dark data into useful one? Can we make our systems as our partners? Answer is YES, We can! Word for it is “Cognitive Computing”.

Cognitive computing is machine learning. Now what is machine learning? To minimal the manual work and make your system/machine as partner or helping hand is machine learning. Minimizing the usage of human brain and help our system to behave like human brain is Cognitive Computing. As human brain learns from experience, in the same way once machine learns any input, will restore it for future. There is quite minimal scope of mistake in this. Once data is stored and there after we can frequently use it. 

Goal of Cognitive computing is to stimulate human thought process in a computerized model. Cognitive Era is quite different from tabulating and programming era. In this era, complete usage of memory comes into picture. Involvement of Self learning, pattern recognition and identifying natural language leads to cognitive era same like human brain does. This era is a boon to human life.

Basically, it is combination of human brain and machine. Cognitive technologies include computer vision, natural language processing, speech recognition and robotics. A very renowned example is Siri and Google, but they are not complete cognitive systems, means they are pre-programmed.

In the coming future, we would be able to use our most of the devices as full fledged cognitive systems for example, self driving cars, smart home, mobile phones etc. . In recent research tech giant Amazon has launched Amazon Go, which is a new kind of store featuring the world’s most advanced shopping technology, you just scan your mobile phone at the entrance and pick your groceries and directly exit the store, the money will be deducted from your account. It uses most advanced computer vision, sensor fusion and deep learning technologies and they call it “Just Walk Out Technology”. Google’s self driving car project is another example of the same, they also have started testing their cars on the busy roads of California, with the success of this project the traffic accidents on the roads will be diminished and traffic will be more managed.

In nutshell, Cognitive computing will transform the life style and way of thinking towards human life. But world has to make sure to use this technology in right direction for mankind.
