Coding without any background knowledge AEC

Hi everyone,

if you are a full-time employee end you want to learn a programming language because you know that some task can be automated and you don't know when and how can do that.... we are in the same boat.

This article meant to be a little critic analysis of my personal experiences. What I would like to achieve is to collect as well your personal experiences so please comment. I am not a guru of programming language lets say that I spend more time to debugging than coding :)

When I can do that?

My personal experiences. For instance, right now I am living in London and I have one hour of commute that means 2 hours a day and 606 hours a year. So I decided to use as much as I can this time to get this skill. general analysis tries to figure it out where is your losing time and try to get as much as you can from that "wasting time" of course the brain needs as well time to relax we are not machines so take time as well your self

how I can do that?

My personal experiences. There is millions or billions way how to face the coding word. And that world has a million faces. There was a moment that I was panicking. Because there is a lot of different flavours of languages (e.g. IronPython, Python, C#, F# and C etc.) and to be honest with you I think it is quite impossible to face them all in the same time. So I decided to start to study Python. But I didn't know how to start, so Google became my favourite friend and after that, I meet StackOverflow (my true love). On the other hands, it was really difficult to get the basic of the structure form all the different platform so I signed up to DataCamp and thanks to that platform I start to understand better. Another issue was related to where I should code. The choosing of the IDLE was one of the most important things that I noticed helps me to improve the shortcut and previewing the documentation. I tried everything Pysharm etc. but nothing was like Visual Studio Code form the same interface I can run C, pip install, python, I can instal IntelliSense for RevitAPI etc. now that I have most of the recipes I start to do my first Project.

general analysis Tries to figure it out what is for you the best language. Consider all the barrier to entry like how much do you have to write or how much complex the language looks to you. Find a community where you can discuss or search. get a good source-code editor.

Enjoy learning to code as much as I am doing it. Please consider that is my personal experience and I didn't study computer sciences and most of the information above is also extremely simplify.
