Coding is just the start.....

I vowed at an early age I would never work in a job where I dreaded going in the morning and waited desperately to leave. I would never work all year for 2 weeks in the sun. I set about doing everything I could to make sure I'd have a career I loved and made an impact on the world. I didn't know that would be in technology. I never even considered it as an option.

Making ideas real

 My career (my passion, my addiction, my dreams come true) didn't start with coding, but it was transformed when I learned to code. I had dabbled with coding and was lucky to be working in a software company. An opportunity came up where I got to develop my coding skills. A year later I'd moved into our development team. I was no longer bombarding our dev team with feature requests, now I was having ideas are making them happen. It was exhilarating. I still love that high, having an idea, coding it up and seeing it come alive. There's nothing that can't be done in software.

Working in technology is as creative as it is technical 

Learning to code shifted my career into a totally different direction and opened up a whole new set of career opportunities. Coding is not the end goal, it's just the start. Coding gives you the technical background you need to enter the digital world and make yourself a new career. Working in tech is as creative as it is technical. You might stay a coder, more likely you'll end up in one a hundred different possible roles from product management, to user experience designer, to a company exec.

 Software makes the world a better place

I got my dream, I make an impact on the world. I make software that changes the world, saves lives. I never thought I'd be creating software products used all over the globe, Chrysler, NASA, Ford, NHS, the list is endless, they all use the software I make.  I say that not to be egotistical. Too often we hear about the successes of companies that make games, or create the latest social media craze. It's easy to think that's all the software world is. It's not, companies like ours and many others are improving the world every day with software. You might not hear about us in the news because we're not consumer brands but we're here, waiting on you to join us and start making your impact. A career in technology is as rewarding as it is fulfilling.
