Cloud computing Integration challenges

The very basic promise of cloud computing to deploy cloud within old IT framework by integrating heterogeneous environment, is it still valid.? Though in theory sounds great but in reality is it feasible? what are business manager's observations, is it that simple to integrate those disparate pieces of infrastructure cloud apps with enterprise Apps?

1. Security, - what kind of data is transferred to cloud, is it sensitive and is prudent to encrypt the data before or after the data is transferred to cloud. Yes, there are performance implication because of encryption when the same data is retrieved from cloud. Confidentiality is irrelevant if the data is available publicly and focus on time and material can be shifted to other parts of equation, such as integrity and availability of the data. on the other hand if the data sensitive it imminent to check if the cloud providers support particular compliance initiatives, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), and will take responsibility for safeguarding the organization’s data in support of one or more compliance initiatives.
