Changes to Award Rates

Happy New financial to year to everyone! I hope that this financial years brings you even more success and growth than the previous year.

In case you didn’t hear or know, there has been some dramatic changes to penalty rates for some awards that was handed down earlier this year by the Fair Work Commission.

If your business is covered by the hospitality, restaurant, and retail industries and here is a quick synopsis of the information. To see all the information, make sure you jump down to the link at the bottom for links to Fair Work’s website.

The changes aren’t the same across all the awards, so you will need to look at yours to ensure that you are in line with the new rules. The awards that have been changed are:

·        General Retail Industry Award 2010 [MA000004] (the Retail Award)

·        Fast Food Industry Award 2010 [MA000003] (the Fast Food Award)

·        Restaurant Industry Award 2010 [MA000119] (the Restaurant Award)

·        Pharmacy Industry Award 2010 [MA000012] (the Pharmacy Award)

·        Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010 [MA000009] (the Hospitality Award)

These changes commenced July 1, 2017 so make sure you get on this right away!
