Building a To-Do List with Timer using jQuery and Python

As a part of my ongoing learning journey, I’ve just built a To-Do List application with an integrated Timer feature using jQuery and Python.

This simple but effective app allows users to:

• Add and delete tasks
• Start and stop a timer

Technologies used:

• jQuery: DOM manipulation, adding interactivity, and timer handling
• Python: Setting up a lightweight HTTP server to serve static files

Why this project?

• Hands-on learning: A great exercise in working with both client-side (jQuery) and server-side (Python) technologies.
• Timer feature: I wanted to build something practical—this can be expanded to include time-tracking functionality for each task.
• Learning by doing: There's no better way to solidify knowledge than by building something from scratch.

Future Enhancement:

• Adding task persistence with a database.
• Building out user authentication.
• Extending the timer functionality to support multiple timers.
