Bridging the GAP
A picture is worth a thousand words but sometimes even a thousand words can't quite explain how we feel when we begin a journey with a clear goal but with seemingly overwhelming odds of success. We've all experienced the intense pressure that comes with strategic projects or initiatives. These are the ones that get a lot of attention but usually carry the most risk. Tackling the issues that have been purposely skipped or left behind by so many other projects. These require optimism above all and a willingness to take a challenge head-on. As Winston Churchill said, "I am an optimist, it doesn't seem too much use being anything else."
We should package a large project in small achievable pieces and take those challenges in isolation when possible without backing away from the hard choices. Make the gulf between your "As Is" and your "To Be" as small as possible and bridge that gap a little at a time.
