Boosting Creativity

Boosting Creativity

Whilst relaxing on my recent holiday in the Greek Islands it gave me time to think.  I’ve come back relaxed, refreshed and realised that if you’re overworked then creativity is crushed.  So to ensure that you plan your holidays in advance and inspire your people to do the same to avoid burnout and ensure that people have a refreshed mind.

I was also thinking about the volume of meetings and time travelling.  My learning is to have meetings for important topics only and use group chat, document sharing and other technology to get simple decisions & action quickly.  Keeping face to face for the important stuff. Again freeing time for people to be more creative.

Having the right environment to think differently is important too, inspiring your teams to create thinking space.  Flexible lunch hours, a change of environment, going for a walk have all been found to increase creativity compared to sitting in the office all day, so what better time now that summer is here.

Getting input from diverse talents, seeking different people’s experiences, opinions and embracing the views of others is key to boosting creativity.

Having the right culture, one where people are empowered, can try things, make mistakes and learn quickly, instilling a passion in your people, appreciating them for what they do, recognising people doing things well.  What you focus on grows, surround yourself with people who have a passion and energy, the ideas and profits will flow.

Love it Jayne, it takes the trust, confidence and commitment from both sides. Unfortunately some employers/ employees are not ready to give this a go yet. But I whole heartedly agree! It's the Greece way forward lol
