A book review

Just finished reading a book on medical code sets called:

"Healthcare Code Sets, Clinical Terminologies, and Classification Systems 3rd ed. Edition".

It was an expensive little book (around $100). It touches on pretty much ALL the major medical code sets. It's one of those "broad dive" books as opposed to a "deep dive" book.

If your're a medical coder or EMR abstraction expert - it's probably not your cup of tea - BUT if you're a developer - like me - I think this book will exponentially (and in a relatively short time) increase your knowledge of medical code sets used in EMRs, HL7 and X12 transactions.

After reading this book - I think the reader will have a whole new level of appreciation and understanding of those long code lists found, for example, in database lookup tables.

HIGHLY recommended if your budget allows. Enjoy.
