Bold is beautiful...
Have you ever watched someone behaving in a bold way? Were you inspired by them? Imagine how liberating it would feel and what you could accomplish if you were that bold…
Bold people stand out from the crowd. They are often confident, courageous, and command respect. I believe there is boldness in all of us and, if nurtured, we could apply it to better the world around us.
So why, I ask myself, aren’t more people unleashing their boldness in their leadership roles? I think we could all agree that leaders who choose to be bold are inspiring not just because they make big things happen, but because they pave the way to growth and progress for themselves and those around them.
You would think therefore that more organisations would foster these traits; reward them even! But, sadly, most become become the authors of their own failing when bureaucratic traditions simply suppress boldness.
In the interests of accountability however, you can’t blame the organisation ‘at large’ – in itself it is nothing more than a collection of individuals. Therefore, what is it that’s really holding you back?
As Robert Frost said, “Freedom lies in being bold”. Perhaps it's time to unleash the bold leader in you.
A bold statement, Mat.
