BLOCKCHAIN
A blockchain is a kind of distributed ledger system that is made up of an expanding list of entries, known as blocks, that are safely connected to one another using encryption. Each block includes transaction information, a timestamp, and a cryptographic hash of the one before it. The timestamp demonstrates that the transaction data was there at the moment the block was produced. They effectively create a chain since each block holds information about the one before it, making them interconnected. Thus, once a transaction has been recorded, it cannot be undone without also undoing all subsequent blocks, making blockchain transactions irreversible.
Blockchains are often controlled by a peer-to-peer computer network for use as a public distributed ledger. To add and validate new transaction blocks, nodes cooperate according to a consensus algorithm protocol. Blockchains may be regarded as safe by design and serve as an example of a distributed computing system with strong Byzantine fault tolerance even if blockchain records are not unchangeable and blockchain forks are possible.
Based on earlier work by Stuart Haber, W. Scott Stornetta, and Dave Bayer, a person going by the name Satoshi Nakamoto constructed a blockchain in 2008 to act as the public distributed record for bitcoin cryptocurrency transactions. Bitcoin was the first digital money to eliminate double spending without the aid of a central server or trusted authority because of the blockchain technology within it. Other applications and publicly accessible blockchains that are frequently employed by cryptocurrencies were influenced by the bitcoin design. One kind of payment rail may be thought of as the blockchain.

Private blockchains have been proposed for business use. Computerworld called the marketing of such privatized blockchains without a proper security model "SNAKE OIL" however, others have argued that permissioned blockchains, if carefully designed, may be more decentralized and therefore more secure in practice than permission less ones.
