A bit of personal reflection about work
I did a story telling course this morning, and was asked to speak a story about one of my career highlights.
I spoke about my experience in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and how my data analytics and modelling skills were used to inform transitioning of people with disability in NSW to the NDIS. Of course, I talked about my experience, what I did, the data, the models, and the results... the usual spill.
What really strikes me is the feedback from my audience. Rather than remembering anything about data modelling, they recalled I spoke about the fact that every line on a spreadsheet is not just a line, it’s a person and their families, and their future. They also remembered how passionate I am about the reasons to have NDIS and how I really feel I am making an impact, no matter how small, to many families out there.
And that’s what keeps me energetic and excited about my work all day. Being able to make a positive impact, rather that be in NDIS, Parramatta Light Rail, or other projects, is what it is about for me.
