Big things start small - The Bezos Machine

Cliff notes from Blue Origin's 1st passenger flight to space today. Do read if you missed it.

Big things start small. Keep at it. Ferociously.

Leadership: Jeff Bezos takes with him his brother Mark, an enthusiastic 82-year-old Wally Funk, and an 18-year-old student encouraging future generations to continue evolving this vision to space today.

People - You can't miss the chemistry they share, the fun stories they narrate with the humility and regard for each other, and others associated with their journey before, during, and at the post-flight press conference; making a highly complex life-changing mission, look simple yet aspirational.

Innovation is a journey. Jeff also carried a bronze medallion to commemorate the first hot air balloon flight in 1783, a piece of canvas from the Wright Flyer, the first powered airplane flown by the Wright brothers in 1903, and Amelia Earhart goggles, which she used to fly across the Atlantic solo on May 20-21, 1932. All borrowed from Explorers Club.

Practise Practise Practice. Architect for big from the beginning to allow scale — What looks overkill for the small tourism mission is just a practice session for future missions. Google up Vertical Landing Architecture (google inverted pendulum problem) and Liquid Hydrogen, the most potent highest performing rocket fuel, used for this 10 min, four-member mission.

He goes on to scale his mission further by launching a "Courage and Civility Award," as he read aloud his intentions behind the award "We live in a world where when we disagree, we don't question to understand. But we question their character and their motives. And after that, it isn't easy to work with that person whom we have labeled. We need more people who can question courageously to unify, not to classify."

Big things start small, and you can tell when you are on to something. Jeff repeatedly admits, "I don't know what the future will look like exactly yet. But I will keep looking for it ferociously. I emphasis ferociously."

Dream Big. Bet Big. Fight Hard. Connect. Question to unify, not to classify.

Live.

Ferociously.

Inspire. Be inspired.
