Before you apply analytics on Data

This article talks about the things you need before applying analytics on the Data.

You need to have / know:

1. Objective: A set of questions like what are you trying to seek & why, what's its Business Value (BV).
2. Data: Accurate, Unambiguous and clean data
3. Knowledge: Depending on your objective and the nature of your data, you need to know some or all of following: Statistics & probability, Linear Algebra, Calculus, Operation Research (OR), various Models / Algorithms in Supervised or unsupervised Machine Learning e.g. Neural Network, Deep Learning, SVM, Linear or Logistic Regression.
4. Tools: R, MATLAB, Python, S, Octave etc.
5. Analytical mind: Let's says you have a 20 meter long cloth and you cut it 2 meters each day, then how many days will you take to cut the whole cloth? If your answer is 9, then you are right fit for Data Analytics. If your answer is 10, you can still do better as long as you have "what if" curious mind or if different ideas keep cropping up in your mind. You are all good for this analysis.
